The end of the year saw a shift and a focus for next year. We are in the process of milling logs into timbers for a timber framed retail pergola for the Agriculture program here at FCHS. It will provide additional space to display and sell hanging baskets and cold hardy perennial plants .
We acquired a number of logs from local residents that were from tree removal companies and blown down trees. In fact here at FCHS the greater number of the logs that we convert into lumber and timbers are reclamation efforts. This wood may have otherwise gone to waste or be consumed as a source of heat.
In addition to preparing for our pavilion build we built an A- framed wooden crane to lift large sections of our projects. We will be taking it to the county fair to put on a demonstration before we use it to erect the Pergola and the pavilion at the county library next year.
